The concept
Special Air Service Virtual Airline Group is a group of virtual airlines providing all kind of aviation services, whether its passenger services, from regular scheduled routes to VIP air charters of scenic flights, to air freight and special operations. Special Air Services has its main base at EHLE Lelystad Airport in the Netherlands with many (future) bases and hubs in different parts of the world for its subsidiary airlines.
Special Air Service throughly is a community driven virtual airline! We’re building up our airlines together with our Patreons. Together we decide what new markets we’re opening up, which airports will form our new hubs and which aircraft will be added to the fleet of the subsidiary airlines. From GA to the big birds, Special Air Service VAG will have something you’ll like!
Originis
Special Air Service is a virtual airline founded by PAPA HOTEL Dutch Scenery Design’s developer Ronald Fleurbaaij. As an avid flight simmer himself, Ronald wanted to challenge himself in the virtual skies. He started a YouTube channel where he started a new company in Air Hauler 2, before switching the airline to OnAir Company.
Special Air Service started as a small, one man owner/operator company, flying cargo and passenger operations with just the one Cessna C172, a small general aviation, fixed wing aircraft. Flying in and out of small airstrips.
Expansion plans
While Special Air Service VAG might still be very small for now, with only a hub at EHLE Lelystad Airport, we’ve got BIG plans for our virtual airline. The name Virtual Airline Group has deliberately been chosen. From our home base in the Netherlands, we’re planning to open new hub’s and airlines in new markets. Think about Special Air Service Alps to fly the beautiful mountain region in the center of Europe, Special Air Service UK to serve the British Isles or Orange Jets (OJ for short) as our VIP charter company or Special OPS, flying cargo with types of aircraft from the golden age of aviation that deserve to keep being flown as part of our aviation heritage. All subsidiary airlines will their own unique liveries. Which new hub’s and airlines will be started up, that’s for our Patreon’s to decide!
Our fleet
Special Air Service VAG still has a very small fleet. We’ve just managed to acquire enough credits to start our virtual airline in OnAir Airline Manager and, together with our Patreon’s, elected to start the company with a leased Cessna C172SP Skyhawk, the classic or analog version in Microsoft Flight Simulator.
The aircraft has the registration PH-KAD and after ferry flying the aircraft to our base at EHLE Lelystad Airport, we’ve added a couple of decal stickers for the branding. Once we’ve acquired enough funds, we might buy the aircraft and paint it into our own airline livery. We’ve already reserved the registration PH-HDA for this purpose.
Which aircraft will we add to our growing fleet from here? That’s up to the members of our airline! For the near future, we’re looking for a Piper PA-28R-201, Cessna C207 Stationair II, Cessna C208 Grand Caravan and/or a Cessna CJ4 business jet. What would you recommend? OnAir Airline Manager
Special Air Service Virtual Airline Group is run in OnAir Airline Manager, a massively multiplayer online (MMO) that lets you run your own virtual airline in a persistent world that runs in real-time. Special Air Service VAG is run in the Thunder server, the server with the highest difficulty, but has no limit on the number of members joining our VA.
Special Air Service Virtual Airline Group thoroughly is a community driven corporation. We’re still a very small virtual airline, but our ambitions are large!
