Every empire has a beginning. Ours started at Lelystad Airport (EHLE) with a single engine, one pilot, and the Dutch horizon. While we now operate a global multi-division fleet, that original spirit of GA utility is baked into our DNA. It’s why we use OnAir Airline Manager to track every gallon and every mile—because in this VA, every flight matters to the community that owns it.
Operating on OnAir Airline Manager
Special Air Service Virtual Airline Group is a group of virtual airlines, operating on OnAir Airline Manager. OnAir is a complete economic platform for flight simulator, whether you fly MSFS, Xplane or Prepar3D. It’s a massively multiplayer online (MMO) that lets you run your own virtual airline in a persistent world that runs in real-time. Pilots can join our virtual airline as a freelancer or join us outright.

Special Air Service Virtual Airline Group is part of the SayIntensions Virtual Airline Alliance. This partnership brings a new level of vocal immersion to our operations, bridging the gap between our OnAir logistics and the cockpit.

The concept
The concept for Special Air Service Virtual Airline Group has been inspired by the Discovery Channel television show Flying Wild Alaska. The pilots at Era Alaska are being faced by the unforgiving conditions in Western Alaska, while providing a vital link to the outside world for many communities. This type of flying asks for dedicated and highly skilled pilots who aren’t afraid to go the extra mile.
Special Air Service Virtual Airline Group is a group of virtual airlines providing all kinds of aviation services. Although the Netherlands and Western Europe don’t quite have the wilderness of Alaska, Special Air Services strives to operate the same diverse types of operations as shown in the tv series. We offer passenger services, from regular scheduled routes to VIP air charters, to freight, scenic flights, medivac and other special operations. Special Air Service VAG has its main base at EHLE Lelystad Airport in the Netherlands with many (future) bases and hubs in different parts of the world for its subsidiary airlines.
Special Air Service truly is a community driven virtual airline! We’re building up our airlines together with our Patreons. At Special Air Service VAG you’re not just a pilot, you’re a partner! Together we decide what new markets we’re opening up, which airports will form our new hubs and which aircraft will be added to the fleet of the subsidiary airlines. From GA to the big birds, fixed wing or helicopters, Special Air Service VAG will have something you’ll like!
What’s in it for you?
The concept is to build out Special Air Service VAG with many different subsidiary airlines, for instance Special Air Service Alps for your better European mountain flying, Oranje Jets for some great business jet flying, and Special OPS that will keep the historic aircraft airworthy and Special Heli for all sorts of helicopter operations. This will not only give our pilots a route to fly from A to B, but offers everyone a reason to take to the virtual skies.
As a member pilot of Special Air Service, you’ll get support from a dedicated community on our Discord and full economic model and career mode of OnAir Airline Manager. You’ll get access to our entire fleet and special scenery add-ons for our VA’s bases. Help us build our virtual airline to become a real aviation powerhouse!
How to join & get flying
Become a First Officer, Captain or Line Captain on Patreon.
Download the OnAir Client for your PC (OnAir is a paid subscription, $ 42,- per year, they do offer a 7-day FREE trail).
Launch OnAir. You can either create a personal company in the Thunder world or start a freelance career. Access the Virtual Airlines menu and select List of active VA’s. You'll find us under UHDVA - Special Air Service VAG.
Request to join Special Air Service VAG. Do make sure to send us a DM, either on Discord, Patreon or in OnAir, stating your OnAir company name and 4 letter identifier, so we can check the name against our (new) Patreon’s.

We’ve launched our new virtual airline on OnAir Airline Manager and leased our first aircraft for our fleet. We’re ferry flying it from EDWI Wilhelmshaven in the northeast of Germany, back to our base at EHLE Lelystad Airport and complete 3 jobs at the same time.
