Netherlands Group Tour - Leg 9: EHGG - EHLE

We’re almost there, this is our final leg of the PAPA HOTEL Virtua Flying Club Netherlands Group Tour. After this one, we visited ALL of the general aviation airfields in the Netherlands. We’ve seen all of the amazing places this country has to offer. And… we’re back at the home of FlightSimWeekend!

Description

We’ve ended our last flight at the L apron at EHGG Groningen Eelde Airport. Just like last time, we’ll have 2 airfields before we arrive at our destination. This flight we’ll take-off and fly south using the UNIFORM Departure towards the city of Assen and fly over the famous TT Circuit on the south side of the city. From here we’ll turn east for the final time during the tour towards the southeast corner of the town of Stadskanaal, where we’ll enter the circuit of EHST Stadskanaal aerodrome via visual reporting point WHISKEY. The circuit pattern altitude is quite low, at 500 feet AGL, at the runway really short, just 500 meters.

After your departure from the aerodrome, we’ll exit the circuit to the southeast when RWY06 is in use, or the southwest when RWY24 is in use. When well clear of the circuit, we can head for the large windfarm at the southwest side of the city from where we can pick up our route to our next stop: EHHO Hoogeveen. This aerodrome we’ll approach from the north and fly the circuit at a height of 740 feet AGL.

After our landing or touch ‘n go at EHHO Hoogeveen, we’ll depart the circuit to the north and follow the provincial road towards the town of Meppel. From here it’s quite easy to pick up the motorway A28 towards the city of Zwolle where we can do a bit of sightseeing of the beautiful old city center. After Zwolle, we’ll turn to a heading of approximately 290 degrees, following the river IJssel, towards another and our last Hanse City of the tour. Finally we’ll fly northwest towards the former island of Urk, before heading to our final destination.

We’ll approach EHLE Lelystad Airport from the north and fly the MIKE Arrival. Visual reporting point MIKE is the exit Lelystad North of motorway A6. We fly this VFR arrival at 1500 feet and keep a separation of around 500 meters west of the motorway. Keep in mind, the MIKE Departure is flown at the same altitude on the other side of the motorway, so keep an eye out for traffic. After visual reporting point X-RAY, we’ll join either a left hand downwind for RWY05 or a right hand downwind for RWY23. Circuit pattern altitude is 1000 feet.

As we arrive just in time for next weekend’s FlightSimWeekend 2026, land and taxi via taxiway S to the Aviodrome apron on the southeast side of the airfield. When you’re using EHLE Lelystad Airport for MSFS from PAPA HOTEL, just make sure your sim time is set before 17:00 CET (16:00Z). The Aviodrome’s parameter gate closes when the museum is closed. When you’re in, you could park your aircraft on the apron in front of the Schiphol terminal replica from 1928. The green gates at the museum will open when you hide your yoke (only with non JustFlight aircraft).
