Description
We’ve ended leg 2 of the Netherlands Group Tour at the flight club at Maastricht-Aachen Airport’s C Apron on the east side of the airfield. That’s a great position to load your flight. If the positions are already occupied, you can also load in at the GA terminal on the ALPHA SOUTH Apron. Remember: ‘Pilots must have obtained start-up clearance from ATC before starting engines.’
We’ll depart the airport via the BRAVO Departure to the north, in accordance with the VFR Flight Procedures stated in the Aeronautical Information Publication from the Luchtverkeersleiding Nederland website in section EHBK AD 4.2. Visual Flight Procedures for Light Aircraft. After take-off, we’ll head to SIERRA and follow the river Muese north to the town of Born where we’ll end flying the BRAVO Departure.
After departing the we’ll continue a bit further north to the town of Maasbracht. Here the motorway A2 turns west and crosses the river. We will continue following the motorway a bit more to the exit of Weert South before entering the Budel ATZ/RMZ.
Keep in mind that EHBD Budel Kempen Airport is located closely to the Kleine-Brogel Air Base. ‘Pilots are urgently advised to adhere strictly to the procedures prescribed and to keep a sharp look-out for military aircraft approaching Kleine-Brogel AD. These aircraft cross the circuit area at a minimum altitude of 1700 FT AMSL (1586 FT AAL).’ The approach should be flown strictly at 1100 FT AMSL (986 FT AAL), circuit altitude is 814 FT AMSL (700 FT AAL).
As leg 3 is quite a short trip with a flight time of only around 45 minutes, EHBD Budel Kempen Airport makes a great opportunity to put in quite a few touch ‘n go’s and work on your landings and take-offs. The virtual landing fees we pay to IVAO NL are low enough to really stack them up! Only a cup of coffee and a few biscuits.
After we’re done doing our things at Budel Kempen Airport, we will exit the circuit in accordance with VFR chart AD 2EHBD VAC - 3 and make our way north and head towards the city of Eindhoven. Depending on the weather and the way you’re exiting the Budel TMA/RMZ, you can either choose to fly the ECHO or ZULU Arrival into EHEH Eindhoven Airport. The procedures can be found in section EHEH AD 4.6.3.1, VFR inbound via ZULU or ECHO Arrival.
After admiring the city of Eindhoven during the arrival and safely landing at the airfield, it’s time to park and secure the aircraft for the night. Keep in mind that the Eindhovensche Aero Club in the recommended scenery has just a very small hangar and apron on the west side of the airfield, at taxiway K, with only one parking position in the middle of the taxiway. A good alternative to end the flight might also be the GA ramp on the north east side, next to the terminal at the threshold of RWY21.
If you’ve joined us for all legs so far and you’ve made it to Eindhoven, congratulations! You’ve now completed 297 nautical miles and little over 3 hours of air time. We’ve got ‘only’ 762 NM and 7 hours and 15 minutes of flight left.
