Special Air Serivce Hangar

Purpose-Built for Fleet Efficiency and Pilot Progression

At Special Air Service Virtual Airline Group, our aircraft acquisition strategy is strictly data-driven. We do not add aircraft to our hangar just because they look good; every airframe is selected to fill a specific operational bottleneck, match our members' real-world flight session times, and provide a logical step-by-step career progression.

Operating out of EHLE Lelystad Airport, our current fleet serves as the dual-track foundation for our new Fixed-Wing and Rotary training pipelines

Fixed Wing

Registration: PH-HDA

Operational Role: Foundational Training Platform & Local VFR Utility

The Strategy: Acquired exclusively to anchor our Fixed-Wing Training Syllabus. Its forgiving flight characteristics, predictable handling, and excellent short-field capabilities allow trainees to safely master basic airmanship, localized cross-country flying, and VFR procedures before stepping up to higher-performance aircraft.

Technical Specifications

  • Engine Type: Lycoming IO-360-L2A (Naturally Aspirated)

  • Average Cruise Speed: 110–115 KTAS

  • Max Payload Capacity: ~850 lbs (Varies by fuel load)

  • Passenger Capacity: 3 Passengers + 1 Pilot

Cessna 172 Skyhawk

Registration: PH-HDB

Operational Role: High-Performance Advanced Cross-Country

The Strategy: Acquired to bridge the gap between basic flight training and commercial-level operations. With a turbocharged engine, retractable gear, and a constant-speed prop, PH-HDB is selected for faster, higher-altitude regional charters that fit perfectly within a standard 1-to-2 hour member flight session.

Technical Specifications

Piper Turbo Arrow III

Rotary

Registration: PH-SHA

Operational Role: Foundational Training Platform & Local VFR Utility

The Strategy: Formally selected as the crown jewel of our Rotary Training Syllabus. The R66 was leased to satisfy the specific need for a fast, light, turbine-powered helicopter capable of high-intensity local operations. It allows helicopter pilots to run multiple high-paying cargo or executive charter legs per hour, bypassing traditional runways entirely to exploit tight landing zones.

Technical Specifications

  • Engine Type: Rolls-Royce RR300 (Turboshaft / Jet-A)

  • Average Cruise Speed: 99 KTAS

  • Max Operational Payload: 1,253 lbs (Max cargo configuration)
